Project 2 / Animated Infographics, Kinetic Typography, and Motion Graphic Chart

LECTURES

There were no lecture classes on the 6th to 7th week. We were all told to continue on our project or ask for feedback in the class meeting.

INSTRUCTIONS



Project 2: Animated Infographics

For the next project, we are required to make an animation based on our previous project's infographic. Our video must be 1 minute, 720p, 1280 x 720 pixels, H26/mp4 video published to YouTube and set to unlisted. 

First, I made the frames in Illustrator so that I can easily edit them in AfterEffects for the animation. I used the previous project's design to create the frames.

I made a total of 15 frames for the animation since my recipe has a lot of steps to do. After finishing all the things to do in Illustrator I then proceed to AfterEffects to create my animation.

I made small movements to the animation and added a background song to the animation video.

Project 2: Kinetic Typography

For this project, we are required to create a kinetic typography video of our own. Mr. Martin said that we can choose any song and had to break down the lyrics so that we can animate them. For this project, we chose Pacman made by eaJ. 

Lyrics:

Loving you's just getting harder and harder to do

We then divide the work for this project and decided to use the same font and colors. I got to do lines 1 to 4.

Project 2: Motion Graphic Chart

In our third week, Mr. Martin gave us a task about motion graphic charts. He introduced us to three types of charts and gave us sets of instructions to create the motion graphic chart. I got to do the line chart for this task.

FEEDBACK

I asked Ms. Anis whether the video could be 9 seconds longer than the maximum and she said that it's fine.

REFLECTIONS

The process of animating the infographic and the motion graphic chart was quite easier compared to the kinetic typography. I had an experience beforehand and was feeling familiar with the controls on AfterEffect so it didn't take that long of a time for making them. The kinetic typography animation process was taking a very long time since I just learned the tricks on that day. It was pretty hard to follow so I had to rewatch the tutorial several times.

Game Art / Art Bible

We are also required to create splash arts of our characters. I first started making the line art for the characters I made throughout this whole module. She showed us her sketch in Photoshop and taught us about panel arrangements, camera angles, compositions and etc.  After sketching several panels we then proceed to a lecture session with Ms. Anis. For the lecture, Ms. Anis presented us with how to make comics.  To startup making comics, we need to come up with an idea. To get ideas, we can get it from our experiences. Good ideas never come from browsing google aimlessly.
