INSTRUCTIONS

Exercise: Anatomy Fundamentals

For this exercise, we needed to produce outputs (digital drawings and sculpting tests) that demonstrate an understanding of anatomy. We will have to produce out as listed below:

  1. Skeletal Studies (Human)
  2. Head Studies (Sketch and Sculpt)
  3. Muscle Studies (Sketch and Sculpt)
  4. Hands (Sketch and Sculpt)
  5. Feet (Sketch and Sculpt)
  6. Facial Expression (Sketch and Sculpt)
  7. Posture (Blockout)
So I first started sketching the hands. I looked up Pinterest for hand references and picked the interesting ones for my sketch. I used three colors for the hands showing how I usually draw hands. Starting with the blue color for the initial setup of the hand and following it with the red ones as the guide for the fingers and black color for the final touch.

After that I sketch heads. Most of the exercises done here use reference images from Pinterest.

For the final head sketch, I added the hair and other features to understand more about the right locations for them. After finishing them, I start making the posture sketches and the muscle study. I first created a line from the head to the pelvis. Then added segments of the body in simple shapes and sketched the poses. I also added the lines for the legs and hands so that it would be easier to follow and added connectors on the arms and legs.

For the muscle study, I drew a front and back body with different color of labels to indicate the location of the muscles in the body and also name each of them.

After getting feedback, my muscle study needs more depth so I created another sketch of it for the leg section.

Then I continue making the skulls and the skeleton. For the skulls, I created a head structure first as my guide and continued adding details to it.

For the skeleton sketches, I used one reference for it and rotated the reference for the full sketch.

Then I proceed to make the torso studies and lastly the feet.

This torso study helped me how to adjust the torso more. As for the feet sketches, I used the same method when sketching the hands by using 3 colors.

Sculpting

During this semester, Mr. Kannan introduced us to a new software called Zbrush where we can sculpt our tasks here. So to start it out I first followed through the tutorial and created a head bust.

This exercise includes sculpting the ears, eyes, nose, mouth, neck, and some of the upper torso parts. Then I proceed on sculpting the skeleton and follow it up with the muscles.

For the muscle sculpt, I blocked it out by using the skeleton sculpt as a guide.

By doing the sketch exercise, the sculpting process for both the skeleton and the muscles is made easier since they allow me to understand the positions of the bones and the muscles. To finish this exercise, I used the muscle sculpt to create the full body sculpt which includes the hands and the feet as well.

FEEDBACK

Make sure to label what I am doing (top left), and add my name and ID at the bottom right for the submission.

The skeleton is a bit off proportion is off, legs too short. pelvis and ribcage distance is a bit too much, adjust it. hand 1 right bottom bit off. draw more muscle study. the diagram is not too in-depth for dissecting the information.

REFLECTIONS

The first task for this module is quite fine and hard. The sketching part is an exercise to help with the sculpting task later on. I had a hard time making the sculpture for the fingers as I was unfamiliar with the software and had to do a lot of research on how to use it properly. I don't have much to say for the sketching part as I used to do a lot of sketches for anatomy and I was doing them quite fast compared to the sculpting part.
