INSTRUCTIONS

Character Detailing and Texturing

For this task, we are required to continue with the previous sculpt from Project 1 to further enhancement. We may add sufficient details and textures to the character sculpt by utilizing through studies of anatomy principles in our sculpt. Details should uplift the character persona which will add a visual narrative to the output produced. Below are the list of components to be achieved in this project:

  1. Character persona
  2. Skin details
  3. Scars and bumps
  4. Creases
  5. Color implementation
  6. Light setup
  7. Final render
Continuing from the previous task, I used the blockout and smoothen them to complete the body sculpting. I removed the previous hand and did a new one since Mr. Kannna taught us a method on how to create the hands and fingers. I also removed the horn part since I have a problem with it.

The next step is to create the outfit for the character. I learned the extract feature that was thought in class in order to create the outfit for the character. I also discovered a new way on creating the horns and so I made them in a separate subtool.

In my opinion, the horns look way better this time.

After getting feedback from Mr. Kannan, I had to make more changes to my character. After giving the changes, I immediately added color to it. The color was already picked and chosen during the character design class.

I finished the sculpture and rendered it for submission.

During the coloring process, I used the metal material for the armor on the body, shoulder, and legs. I used the same color as the reference as well.

FEEDBACK

  • Make sure that I am well aware of the flow of the muscle by looking at references otherwise it's gonna feel wrong.
  • Hands are still kinda flat
  • Fix the hand posture and the legs
  • Maybe try to divide the armor into 2 sections (body armor and shoulder armor).

REFLECTIONS

Around this time, I get to be more used to the software a little bit. Even though, I still have some difficulties on some parts when doing this task. I still enjoy creating my character and sculpting is quite fun. When I finished this task, I felt quite satisfied with how it turned out.
