LECTURES

During lecture, Mr. Fauzi introduced us with a presentation about Digital Photography and Imaging. In the presentation he explained on why learning photoshop is important. 

Mr. Fauzi mentioned on what are the importance of photoshop for the graphic designer:

  1. Express your creativity
  2. Create graphic design
  3. Restoration of old images
  4. Integrate graphics with text artistically
  5. Make use of brushes
  6. Change photo color
  7. Rectify mistakes in photographs
He also mentioned 10 useful tips of successful graphic designer:
  1. Follow the tutorials
  2. Experiment
  3. Memorize all keyboard shortcuts
  4. Try to replicate others work
  5. Do participate in design competitions
  6. Subscibe to online galleries
  7. Smart objects for smart designers
  8. Scalling artworks and proportions
  9. Use actions to personalize work
  10. Organize the files properly
In a nutshell, photoshop is one of the widely used photo editing software. It has become the center of creativity.  

Mr. Fauzi also showed on the past students works.

Mr. Fauzi introduced us to Collage by sharing us a video about it. He shared some examples of it from the past students work.


We were told to bring materials to start on making them on week 2.

Week 1 Task

For practical, we were told to do an assignment. The first assignment was to play a game called "Bezier Game". It's about a game to practice the use of pen tool. I ever once tried the pen tool so I still remember a little bit on how to use it.

These are the three of my favourite graphic designers work from Pinterest and the reason why I like them:

I personally think that this image is cool because of the editing effect on the face. Overall, the edit is simple but I think the concept is cool.

The selection of colour chosen from this designer is really good. I really like how the designer uses gradients for the background color and the block on the face, I really think it suits together. The idea of blocking the face is also one of the reasons why I like this work.

In this picture, I really like how the designer chooses the colors. It is more focused on dark themes (grey for background and black for shirt). The idea of making the face disfigured is also why I like it. 

FEEDBACK

For my first attempt at making the e-portfolio, Mr. Fauzi commented "Good progress!". So, I will try to keep on the good progress.

REFLECTIONS

Throughout the lesson, I understand that the use of photoshop is very important. Photoshop is one of the most important softwares that is required for us to master it for future uses. With the use of the photoshop software we can create designs that can be said eye-catching to many people. Since this is the first week of our module, I will be looking forward on mastering this software for future uses.

Game Art / Art Bible

We are also required to create splash arts of our characters. I first started making the line art for the characters I made throughout this whole module. She showed us her sketch in Photoshop and taught us about panel arrangements, camera angles, compositions and etc.  After sketching several panels we then proceed to a lecture session with Ms. Anis. For the lecture, Ms. Anis presented us with how to make comics.  To startup making comics, we need to come up with an idea. To get ideas, we can get it from our experiences. Good ideas never come from browsing google aimlessly.
